Cookie and Local Storage Notice
Cookie and Local Storage Notice
Cookies don't have to be confusing or difficult, so we've made a simple statement letting you know what we collect and how it's used.

1. What we mean by “cookies” and “local storage”
Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to save.
Local storage is a similar browser feature that lets a site keep tiny pieces of data between page loads. Both are regulated under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
2. Our minimalist approach
Tell Sid uses only what is strictly necessary to make the voice service work and to keep it secure.
We do not set analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking cookies.
The items we set are:
sid-session
(local storage, UUID-v4) – links your microphone stream to the current browser tab so your conversation stays in sync. It is cleared automatically when you close the tab or browser window.__cf_bm
(Cloudflare cookie) – a short-lived bot-management token that helps block malicious traffic. It expires after 30 minutes.cookie-consent-seen
(local storage, boolean) – records that you dismissed the cookie banner so it does not re-appear on every page. It lasts six months.
Blocking or deleting sid-session
will stop Tell Sid from functioning because the voice stream can no longer be routed correctly.
3. What the banner says
On your first visit (and until you dismiss it) you will see:
“Tell Sid only uses essential cookies and local storage to keep the service secure and functional. By continuing, you agree to their use.”
Clicking Read more brings you to this notice.
4. How to clear or block these items
You are in control. Use your browser settings to remove cookies or local-storage entries at any time:
Chrome / Edge: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Other Site Data → “See all cookies and site data”.
Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → “Manage Data…”.
Safari (macOS): Settings → Privacy → “Manage Website Data…”.
5. Future changes
If we ever wish to introduce optional cookies—say, to measure usage—we will update this notice and ask for your explicit consent first.
