Safety and Moderation Policy

Safety and Moderation Policy

We build safety-first, so we've taken big strides in preventing as much harm as possible. We expect mis-use of Tell Sid, but that's part and parcel of being on the internet. We ask that you do your part while we work to make our service even safer.

1. Guiding principles

Tell Sid aims to foster open conversation while protecting users from harm. We combine automated safety filters with clear user guidance. No live human moderators review your conversations in real time; instead, we rely on up-front rules and model safeguards.

2. How automated moderation works

  1. Screening by OpenAI – every request is checked against OpenAI’s built-in safety system before a response is generated.

  2. Tell Sid rules – if the request trips one of our forbidden categories (see Section 3), Tell Sid either blocks the message or returns a “safe-complete” — a neutral refusal plus relevant support information.

  3. Session blocking – repeated or extreme violations trigger an automatic end to the session. You can simply reload the page to start a fresh session, unless we need to block your IP for security.

3. Content categories and actions

  • Child sexual content – instantly blocked and the session is terminated.

  • Sexual content involving adults – blocked if graphic; mild or PG-13 discussion may proceed.

  • Hate or violent extremism – safe-completed with a refusal.

  • Self-harm or suicide requests – safe-completed with UK helplines (Samaritans 116 123) and advice to dial 999 in an emergency.

  • Criminal instructions (e.g. bomb-making, hacking) – blocked.

  • Illicit behaviour (e.g. drug dealing) – safe-completed or blocked depending on severity.

4. Sharing and permanence

Tell Sid does not host or distribute user-generated content. Audio is streamed and then discarded; text lives only in your browser while the tab is open. You may copy your own conversation to the clipboard, but there is no built-in sharing, forwarding or public feed.

5. Reporting a problem

If you encounter abusive or harmful content:

  • Click the “Feedback” link in the Tell Sid interface, or

  • E-mail safety@insinto.ai with a timestamp and as much detail as you can provide.

We review every report within two UK business days. Serious, credible threats to life or child-safety content are prioritised.

6. Emergencies and crisis situations

Tell Sid cannot contact emergency services for you. If you—or someone you mention—are at immediate risk, please dial 999 (UK) or your local emergency number. For non-emergency emotional support, call Samaritans on 116 123 (free, UK & Ireland).

7. Changes to this policy

We may refine these rules as new risks or regulations emerge. Major updates will appear here and in an in-app banner at least 30 days before they take effect.
